"Silver Linings"
SUNNYSIDE UP MOMENT - MAY 12, 2020
DAY FIFTY-SEVEN OF THE CORONAVIRUS QUARANTINE FOR US AT STACK 'EM HIGH PANCAKES AND SO FORTH
The last two weeks have been saturated by a monsoon of information and a deluge of options regarding the reopening process. The sheer size and scope of what must be considered, evaluated, prepared for and implemented is enough to block the sun. Every detail carries an enormous amount of weight. The complexity of this unprecedented situation can blind even the most visionary thinkers.
But just when the burden seems too much to bear, I am reminded that the load isn’t mine alone. I am humbled by the thoughtful and considerate exchanges this challenge has inspired. The questions are hard, so the answers can’t be simple. A successful transition to the next phase will require all hands on deck. And so far, it seems everyone within shouting distance is heeding the call. All of this collaboration really is the silver lining. Anne Frank once said, “I don’t think of all the misery, but of the beauty that still remains.” So as we move forward and we are stuck with days that are grey and lonely, remember the sun will come out tomorrow and how beautiful that will be.
