SUNNYSIDE UP MOMENT - JUNE 1, 2020

DAY SEVENTY-SEVEN OF OUR CORONAVIRUS CLOSURE

I am having trouble finding the words today.  So, as I often do in times of anguish or times of sorrow, I will borrow them from the voice of another that I believe will soothe my soul.  Martin Luther King, Jr. said, "Darkness cannot drive out darkness.  Only light can do that.  Hate cannot drive out hate.  Only love can do that."  In this family, we will continue to love the light.  And we will follow it through the present darkness knowing grief cannot drive out grief.  Only healing can do that.  And despair cannot drive out despair.  Only hope can do that.  In this restaurant and on this team, we will honor and treasure and nourish our hope without ceasing because to let it wither is not an option.  "If we lose hope somehow we lose the vitality that keeps life moving, we lose that courage to be, that quality that helps keep us going in spite of it all.  And so today we still have a dream."
